Chapter 11: I Am Probably a Fake Ghost
Chapter 11: I Am Probably a Fake Ghost
Inside the private room came the sounds of a man flirting and joking around with a flock of women.
Sister Bai nudged Pei Ye and gave her a meaningful look.
“You stood Young Master Du up yesterday. You should go apologize to him, otherwise you’ll leave a terrible impression.” Sister Bai lowered her voice beside her ear. “See those wealthy second-generation heirs over there? They’re all Young Master Du’s friends. If you don’t perform well, how could they possibly have a good impression of you? Go apologize and don’t miss this opportunity.”
Pei Ye’s arrival attracted the attention of several young men.
Xiao Hong’s natural appearance was stunning enough. If she put effort into makeup and dressing up, she would be considered a rare beauty even in the entertainment industry.
One of them shot Young Master Du a look.
With looks like that, no wonder Young Master Du insisted on getting her.
Young Master Du took a sip of wine.
The liquid slid down his throat and into his stomach, stirring a wave of heat.
“Come over and have a couple of drinks. Once you’ve finished them, we’ll consider yesterday’s conflict settled.”
Young Master Du poured Pei Ye a glass of wine and patted the seat beside him, signaling for her to sit.
Pei Ye lowered her eyes and glanced at the spiked drink.
Having learned from yesterday’s failure, Young Master Du had not been stingy with the dosage this time.
“If you don’t drink, then you’re disrespecting me!”
Seeing that Pei Ye had not moved, displeasure appeared on Young Master Du’s face.
Sister Bai became anxious at the sight.
If Pei Ye refused to cooperate again today, the money Sister Bai had swallowed would have to be returned to Young Master Du.
“Drink it! Don’t just stand there like an idiot!”
Pei Ye finally moved.
She stepped forward and bent down to pick up the wine glass.
Young Master Du could not help revealing a faint smile, convinced he was about to succeed.
The next second, a long leg planted itself accurately on his collarbone and chest, while the amber liquid splashed all over his face.
Pei Ye said coldly, “Does it taste good?”
Young Master Du was completely stunned.
He had not even seen how Pei Ye had done it.
“Fuck! You bitch, I gave you face and you refused it!”
Young Master Du exploded with rage and began cursing.
Pei Ye was hardly someone easy to provoke.
With a bit of force from her foot, she crushed his collarbone inward.
The pain made him howl miserably.
One of Young Master Du’s friends rushed forward, only to be slapped so hard that his ears rang.
More than 80 kilograms (~176 lb) of flesh crashed headfirst into a nearby sofa, leaving him seeing stars.
Sister Bai and the hostesses screamed in terror.
Something even more frightening happened.
They ran out through the private room door.
After a blur passed before their eyes, they found themselves running right back into the private room.
A chilly wind swept through.
Accompanied by a foul, fishy stench, a red figure suddenly appeared at the doorway.
The chaotic room fell silent for an instant.
Then came even more piercing screams.
Sister Bai’s voice was the sharpest.
If a Daoist cultivator had been present, they would have seen the room overflowing with yin energy, murderous aura reaching the heavens, and a terrifying drop in temperature.
The red figure glanced at Pei Ye and then at Young Master Du beneath her foot.
A trace of struggle flashed across the deathly face of the ghost.
After a long while, she silently shifted two steps to the side and directed her gaze toward Young Master Du’s cronies and Sister Bai.
The cronies failed to recognize the red figure.
Sister Bai, however, cried out in terror.
“X... Xiaoying...”
Upon hearing Sister Bai call her name, the corners of the red figure’s lips curved upward.
Her disheveled hair, sticky with blood, expanded without wind and surged like a tide, wrapping tightly around Sister Bai’s head.
One eye of the red figure stared at Sister Bai.
The other rolled toward Pei Ye.
Seeing that Pei Ye was not paying attention to her, she dragged Sister Bai into a corner by the hair.
Wrapped tightly by the female ghost’s black hair, Sister Bai could barely breathe and struggled frantically.
But as time passed, her movements grew weaker and weaker.
“Wait a moment!”
Pei Ye removed her foot and sent Young Master Du flying aside with a sweeping kick.
The red figure hesitated.
A trace of fear seemed to appear in her lifeless eyes.
In the end, she reluctantly chose to compromise.
Although she did not release Sister Bai’s head, she freed her nostrils to keep her from suffocating to death.
“Your name is Xiaoying? Lan Ying?”
No wonder the red figure had seemed somewhat familiar from the beginning.
The original Xiao Hong had known her.
Lan Ying and the original owner had known each other.
However, Xiao Hong had not seen Lan Ying for two months.
Sister Bai had said that Lan Ying’s luck had changed for the better.
She had become the second woman of a wealthy man and was now living a good life.
Yet...
Looking at Lan Ying’s current condition, there was no way anyone could call it good.
“Are you trying to stop me from taking revenge?”
As she spoke, the yin energy around Lan Ying suddenly grew much denser.
Pei Ye picked a comfortable position and sank halfway into the sofa.
She pulled a cigarette from the pocket of the half-dead Young Master Du lying nearby.
Without taking out matches or a lighter, she merely snapped her fingers.
The cigarette lit instantly.
“Everything should be handled reasonably. I don’t even know how you died, so how could I stop you from taking revenge?”
Lan Ying looked at Pei Ye warily.
“Then why are you stopping me?”
Why?
To complete a mission, of course.
When Sister Bai revealed the red figure’s identity, the first side mission, [Determine the Identity of the Red Figure], had immediately shown as completed.
Naturally, Pei Ye had stopped Lan Ying because of the second mission.
“Was the traffic accident at the Wudaokou intersection caused by you? Or perhaps you know something?”
Lan Ying’s gray-white, lifeless face suddenly revealed a strange smile.
“I did it. He deserved to die! They all deserve to die!”
[Determine the Red Figure’s Connection to the Traffic Accident (Completed)]
[Congratulations, Player. You have obtained 50 Merit and 5 Fortune.]
With the cigarette hanging from her mouth, Pei Ye stood up.
“Fine. Carry on. I’m leaving first.”
Young Master Du: “...”
Young Master Du’s cronies: “...”
“She’s a ghost!”
Pei Ye flicked the cigarette ash and rolled her eyes.
“So what? What does that have to do with me?”
“Aren’t you curious... why I want to kill them?”
Pei Ye answered bluntly, “Not interested.”
When ghosts settled scores with the living, it was usually because they had suffered grievances while alive.
Pei Ye did not concern herself with such matters.
Lan Ying continued on her own.
“Because they all deserve to die. They killed me, so they have to pay with their lives.”
Pei Ye sighed helplessly.
“That’s why I already told you to carry on.”
Lan Ying angrily pointed at Sister Bai, whose mouth was blocked by ghostly hair and could only produce muffled whimpers.
“She’s one of the main culprits too.”
Pei Ye: “...”
She truly had no interest in a ghost’s emotional journey.
Two streams of bloody tears flowed from Lan Ying’s eyes as she revealed a ferocious grin.
“When she brought you here today, did she tell you she was introducing you to some rich men? That if you pleased them, you might become one of their girlfriends and eventually marry into a wealthy family? That’s how she tricked me into coming too. Then these beasts actually... actually...”
As she spoke, even more bloody tears poured from her bulging black eyes.
“Miss, I’ve seen plenty of trash like this.”
Pei Ye acted as if it were nothing unusual.
There was no shortage of scum like this in the Federation either.
She had encountered many of them.
When dealing with this kind of trash, there was no need for nonsense.
Just beat them.
If the circumstances were severe, beat them until they were half crippled.
The Federation’s medical technology was advanced enough to restore severed arms and legs.
Recovering from being beaten half to death was even less of a problem.
If their parents were reasonable people, the matter would end there.
If their parents were also unreasonable troublemakers, Pei Ye’s usual approach was to deal with the parents together with their spoiled offspring.
After rampaging unchecked for so many years, she had never kicked an iron plate.
Since she herself believed in using violence to deal with trash, how could she hypocritically stop a female ghost from doing the same?
As far as Pei Ye was concerned, so long as it did not cross the bottom line of Federation law, all methods were legal, including violence.
More importantly...
This was not the Federation!
“Anyway, you’re a ghost. There are countless ways for you to torment people that living humans can’t imagine or accomplish. He could flee to the ends of the earth and still never escape you!”
Lan Ying: “...”
Between herself and Pei Ye, which one of them was actually the vengeful ghost who had returned for revenge?
She would not even let people die quickly!
