Chapter 14
Chapter 14
What does it mean to be good-looking? Hao Road could not judge, but he believed that someone who was good-looking would definitely make people feel comfortable.
Perhaps because he looked at his own face every day, he never thought he was handsome. If girls had not always been talking about him, he probably would have long forgotten about his appearance. Hao Road looked at Hui River and gradually drifted into a daze, still holding the other's black-framed glasses in his hand. The infusion room was so quiet that only the sound of the fan running remained.
Recovery from illness came slowly. Perhaps because of the fever-reducing injection, Hao Road felt much better. Even the aches in his bones were gone. He looked out at the night sky through the window. It was pitch black, without a single point of light, yet he did not feel oppressed by it.
The silent night was no longer lonely because this person was accompanying him...
"Drip."
"Drip."
The liquid in the IV bottle was getting lower and lower. Hui River slept groggily, and his head gradually slid onto Hao Road's shoulder.
"!"
The sudden touch made Hao Road freeze for a moment, but only for a few seconds. He lowered his eyes and raised his hand, wanting to push the person off his shoulder, but in the end, he still lowered his hand.
Forget it.
He sighed inwardly, as if indulging an innocent child who knew nothing of the world, carrying a trace of tolerance.
Unfortunately, no one saw those eyes gradually soften, like melting ice and snow, no longer as cold and distant as before.
The liquid in the bottle was almost gone. Hao Road had no choice but to wake the person beside him.
"Hey, get up."
"Huh?" Hui River wiped his face and took a long time to raise his head. "Finished?" He squinted, unable to clearly see the remaining liquid in the IV bottle.
"Yeah." Hao Road handed him the glasses. "Go call the nurse."
Hui River was still half asleep. He did not even find it strange that his glasses were in the other's hand. Nodding, he stood up.
"Mhm, got it."
By the time Hao Road had the needle removed, it was already past two in the morning. Going back to the school dormitory was impossible. Hui River was sleepy to death and yawned several times in a row.
"So sleepy... so tired."
He rubbed his eyes, making his hair even messier.
"Let's find a hotel. Hurry and get some sleep."
"Huh? We're not going back?" Hao Road froze.
"What's the point of going back? The doors are locked already."
Hui River staggered out of the hospital and pointed at a hotel across the street.
"Come on, let's stay there for the night."
"Alright."
Seeing how tired he was, Hao Road could only agree.
Hui River had not brought his ID card, so they could only use Hao Road's. Supporting each other, they entered the hotel. Hao Road awkwardly took out his ID card and booked a room with a large bed.
"Sleep. I'm exhausted."
Hui River muttered softly. After getting the room card, he immediately dragged the other upstairs.
Hao Road clearly felt that the receptionist's gaze toward the two of them was strange. Feeling hopeless inside, he did not bother explaining and simply went upstairs under those burning stares.
Click.
The moment Hui River opened the door, he abandoned Hao Road, kicked off his shoes, and jumped straight onto the bed.
"Hey!"
Hao Road helplessly closed the door.
"Are you really that sleepy?"
"Shhh—don't disturb my sleep."
Hui River narrowed his eyes and shooed him away.
"I'm sleeping first. Do whatever you want."
The moment he finished speaking, he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
This guy...
The corner of Hao Road's mouth twitched. Supporting himself against the wall, he went into the bathroom to wash up. By the time he came out, Hui River had practically occupied the entire two-meter-wide bed.
"Move over a little."
He reached out and pushed the sleeping boy aside before finally finding room to lie down.
Hui River was sleeping deeply. He was probably truly exhausted. Looking at the person beside him, Hao Road suddenly realized just how close this person was to him.
Sharing the same bed and pillow.
Reach out, and he could touch him.
He had never imagined that one day he would lie on the same bed as this guy. The light from outside the window shone into the room, allowing him to vaguely make out the other's brows and eyes.
The scent around his nose was entirely the other's scent.
He did not find it unpleasant.
Instead, it was somewhat reassuring.
Hao Road was tired too. The soft bedding seemed to swallow up his body. His bones released comfortable creaks. Slowly, he closed his eyes.
"Mm ah—mm, haha!"
"?"
What was that sound?
Hao Road frowned.
The strange noises grew louder and softer by turns, continuously tormenting his ears. He listened carefully for a while and quickly understood what it was, making him inhale sharply in irritation.
He turned over, hoping to ignore the sounds and fall asleep quickly.
"Mm oh, no!"
Damn it!
The woman's scream suddenly rose in pitch, signaling that the battle next door had reached its climax. Hao Road clenched the blanket and opened his eyes in despair.
No.
There was absolutely no way he could sleep.
What kind of lousy hotel was this? The walls weren't soundproof at all!
Looking at the deeply sleeping Hui River, he became even more jealous. He almost wanted to shake him awake and make him suffer insomnia together. But he still had some humanity left. He only thought about it and did not actually do it.
Suppressing the irritation in his heart, he decided to wait until the room next door quieted down before sleeping.
But another half hour passed, and the sounds were still coming intermittently.
Hao Road could not take it anymore.
He felt mentally exhausted from the torture.
Couldn't this couple take a break?
They just kept going and going. Weren't they afraid of dying from exhaustion?
He rolled out of bed, opened the door, walked to the room next door, and started knocking.
"Hey, can you keep it down a little? Are people supposed to sleep or not?"
The moaning inside paused briefly.
But what followed was an even louder scream, thick with lust and pleasure, making even Hao Road blush red.
Damn it!
He turned around and returned to his room, only to find that the couple next door had not toned it down at all. Instead, they had become even more enthusiastic.
Were they mocking him for not having a girlfriend?!
Hao Road was furious. Turning his head, he saw Hui River sleeping like a pig, and his anger immediately increased.
How unlucky was he?
The first time he ever booked a hotel room, it was with a guy.
And that guy was his dorm roommate.
Hao Road tossed and turned several times. He was clearly tired, yet he could not fall asleep. Not only that, his blood was heating up, and he was beginning to react physically.
He covered his face.
Just as he was about to call the front desk and file a complaint, the couple next door finally finished and stopped disturbing the peace.
Finally able to sleep...
"Hao Road, Hao Road."
Who was calling him?
A thick fog filled his vision.
Slowly, it dispersed.
In the end, he saw a familiar figure.
Hao Road frowned.
"Hui River?"
"Come over here."
The boy was wearing a simple shirt on his upper body, making his skin look very fair.
Still half asleep, he walked toward him.
His hand was taken.
The boy looked up and smiled at him.
The smile was beautiful.
As though enchanted, he gradually moved closer to him...
"Ha!"
Hao Road suddenly woke up.
Seeing the unfamiliar ceiling, he immediately remembered that he was in a hotel.
Something wasn't right.
He hurriedly threw off the blanket, rolled off the bed, and ran into the bathroom.
The commotion woke Hui River.
He pulled out his phone and checked the time, only to discover it was already ten o'clock.
"Holy crap, it's this late already!"
Today was the last day of the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
But he still hadn't finished his assignment!
Thinking of this, Hui River immediately sprang up from the bed. The urge to urinate in his lower abdomen was pressing him, so he hurried toward the bathroom. When he reached the door, he realized someone was inside.
"Hao Road? Hurry up."
