Chapter 12
Chapter 12 Rose x Kiss
“You only have one bed here?” Ji Mingzhu fell silent for a moment, her gaze wandering around.
She lifted her toes and lightly kicked one corner of the bed.
As if confirming whether the bed was pieced together, and might automatically split into two at some moment.
“What do you think?”
Jiang Ji didn’t even raise his eyes. Too lazy to answer, he directly countered.
Ji Mingzhu also knew there was no second answer, but she couldn’t suppress the small emotions that began to flare up.
One bed, two pillows.
Ji Mingzhu had never shared a bed with a man before. Just thinking about it made her head feel like it would explode.
But it wasn’t completely unacceptable. After all, no matter what, she, Ji Mingzhu, would never wrong herself by sleeping on the floor.
Right now she was only thinking—since Jiang’s mother suggested it, Jiang Ji really just went along with it… and agreed?
In fact, Jiang Ji didn’t give her much time to think. He directly strode over with his long legs toward the bedside.
Ji Mingzhu had been deep in thought, when a shadow suddenly fell before her, making her jump back several steps.
Her thoughts snapped back. Now when she looked at Jiang Ji, she felt something strange.
No matter how she looked, she felt Jiang Ji seemed impatient, like he couldn’t wait.
Her thoughts stopped there; she didn’t force herself to continue.
Jiang Ji cast a casual glance. “It’s late. Aren’t you going to wash?”
As he spoke, he sat on the bed and casually pointed to the change of clothes piled there. “Or are you planning to sleep on top of these?”
So what, once he’s home he’s acting like king of the hill?
With that faint tone, anyone who didn’t know might think she was a palace maid waiting to be favored.
“Not as fast as you, finishing your wash so quickly.”
Ji Mingzhu snorted, then shot Jiang Ji a sharp look, took two quick steps, passed him, grabbed the clothes, and went straight into the bathroom.
After washing up, Ji Mingzhu looked at herself in the mirror, feeling everything today had been too much of a reversal.
And—after helping that cold-faced Yama who couldn’t say a kind word, why did she end up like the one being wronged?
Thinking this, the girl slightly raised her head.
In the mirror, her cheeks were flushed, porcelain skin and bright eyes, as usual.
But something felt off. The pajamas Jiang’s mother prepared fit closely and were comfortable, but… a bit tight.
Ji Mingzhu already had striking curves, full and well-proportioned. With the slightly tight pajamas outlining her figure, every curve was revealed.
Remembering Jiang Ji’s teasing gaze earlier, she decisively pulled open the bathroom door, deliberately making a loud sound.
She struck a particularly noble and aloof pose, intending to overwhelm Jiang Ji with her presence, but only received a faint glance.
Just that one glance, and he calmly looked away.
Seeing him unmoved, Ji Mingzhu regretfully couldn’t even fire back verbally. She pretended to raise her hand and tuck her hair behind her ear.
She closed the bathroom door and walked into the room.
Rain pattered outside; the room lights were bright.
Jiang Ji leaned against the headboard. After withdrawing his gaze, he lowered his eyes, focusing on something.
Ji Mingzhu moved closer and discovered he was holding a book, reading.
She kicked off her slippers and slowly climbed onto the bed. “Jiang Ji, let’s agree—well water won’t interfere with river water. We need a line in the middle.”
She sleeps on her side, Jiang Ji sleeps on his.
“Use a pillow.” As if he had guessed she would say that, Jiang Ji replied directly.
His eyes never left the book, as if indifferent to the outside world, yet his response was quick.
Ji Mingzhu looked at the “pillow” Jiang Ji mentioned—a long, wide one.
Indeed, placed vertically, it could lie across the middle of the bed, directly separating the two of them.
“But this pillow of yours is really big.” Ji Mingzhu had never seen such a long pillow, lazily poking it.
From the beginning she had been kneeling on one knee on the bed. Out of curiosity, she leaned forward slightly.
Just as Jiang Ji heard her, he straightened and lifted his eyes to look at her.
In an instant, the distance between them closed.
The scents of cedar and rose mixed in the air, suddenly rushing into their noses. For a moment, both froze.
And because they were so close, Jiang Ji’s gaze landed directly on her chest.
Not off by the slightest.
Ji Mingzhu reacted first, hurriedly retreating, hooking her leg and falling heavily to the side.
Like a swordfish plunging into the sea.
Only, the ripples were a bit larger.
The bed was soft, swaying slightly when sat on. With the force from Ji Mingzhu, the movement obviously increased.
She closed her eyes, ears warm, but her voice tried to remain steady. “I’m going to sleep. Please turn off the light.”
Unexpectedly, she didn’t hear Jiang Ji’s voice for a long time.
After an unknown while, with a “click,” the room light went out.
As her vision fell into darkness, she heard Jiang Ji speak.
He said, “Move less.”
…
Move less?
Move! Less!
Because of Jiang Ji’s last sentence, Ji Mingzhu couldn’t fall asleep for a long time.
In the dark, her phone screen glowed faintly.
Ji Mingzhu: 【So angry so angry so angry!】
Lian Tang: 【Jiang Ji?】
Ji Mingzhu: 【?】
Ji Mingzhu: 【How did you know?】
Ji Mingzhu: 【I didn’t even mention him.】
Lian Tang: 【Anyone could guess.】
Lian Tang: 【Last time you talked like this, it was because of him!】
Ji Mingzhu calculated—seemed true.
But Lian Tang’s brain being this precise was rare, so she simply threw out two lines—
Ji Mingzhu: 【Oh.】
Ji Mingzhu: 【He’s sleeping next to me.】
Sure enough—
Lian Tang: 【……Wait!】
Lian Tang: 【This plot is progressing too fast, can we hit the brakes so I can catch up!】
Ji Mingzhu: 【I’m not finished—there’s a Milky Way between us.】
Ji Mingzhu: 【But there’s a reason for it. Anyway, I’m not sleeping down below.】
Lian Tang: 【Wow, Xiao Ba.】
Lian Tang: 【Didn’t expect Jiang Ji to be the one below.】
Ji Mingzhu: 【What are you thinking?】
Ji Mingzhu: 【I meant the floor.........】
Lian Tang: 【Got it, got it. You two do whatever.】
Lian Tang: 【Whatever!】
Whatever my foot. Ji Mingzhu stared at the screen. While thinking about what way she should fry begonia flowers next time, she roughly explained the situation to Lian Tang.
She did the explaining; Lian Tang responded.
Of course, she omitted some of the more outrageous wording.
Ji Mingzhu: 【You tell me, what did that last sentence mean?】
Lian Tang: 【It’s easy to understand, just take it literally!】
Ji Mingzhu: 【?】
The chat didn’t last long. Later, Ji Mingzhu grew very tired, her eyelids fighting.
She put down her phone, hugged the long pillow, and fell asleep.
In her haze, she felt like she was dreaming.
One moment heaven, the next hell. Her body alternated between cold and hot.
Extremely uncomfortable.
As if soaked in ice water, then immediately thrown into a furnace—ice and fire at once.
Her nose felt blocked too, stuffy, hard to breathe.
With the little consciousness she still had, she flung the long pillow aside, only then feeling slightly better.
But before long, Ji Mingzhu felt herself fall into an icy pit again, shivering.
She subconsciously moved toward the warm source beside her. After pressing close, she hugged it tightly.
The warmth wasn’t very hot, mildly cool and warm, like jade that had been gently heated.
After hugging for a while, Ji Mingzhu felt soothed by the warmth, her whole body relaxing.
She nestled there, finding a perfect position to lean on.
Like that, she finally fell into a deep sleep.
