Chapter 129: This Is My Property

Inside the private room, Xue Fei casually set down the gift.

“Husband, look…” Bei Wei quietly gestured to Zhang Yang. “Bei Jiajia and he aren’t even officially together yet.”

Zhang Yang stepped forward and took a look.

What Xue Fei had given was not some gold-foil craft ornament with very little actual gold content, but genuine 24-karat gold weighing over a hundred grams (~3.5 oz). The price was indeed quite high.

At least in his view, for someone whose relationship had not even begun to come as a guest and bring something of that value was somewhat inappropriate.

“Xue Fei, we appreciate the thought, and we’ve accepted the gift. We’ll transfer the money to you later,” Zhang Yang said casually.

“It really wasn’t that much money,” Xue Fei said with a smile, still trying to add something.

“No, that’s not how it works,” Zhang Yang said. He looked at the receipt, then waved Bei Jiajia over. “Come here. I’ll transfer the money to you, and you can send it to Xiao Xue later.”

“Oh.” Bei Jiajia obediently stepped forward.

Zhang Yang also included the money he had borrowed from Bei Jiajia, rounded it up, and transferred her five hundred thousand.

It wasn’t that he was being generous. After all, when Bei Jiajia had transferred him three hundred thousand, the system had returned thirty million to him. If he didn’t repay her with extra, he wouldn’t even feel at ease spending that money.

“Ah, brother-in-law, why did you transfer me so much?” Bei Jiajia widened her eyes slightly, looking a little incredulous.

“You think I took your money for free?” Zhang Yang asked with a laugh.

“If good things like this come up again, brother-in-law, please keep thinking of me next time too,” Bei Jiajia said happily as she accepted the money.

Holding the money, she looked at Xue Fei beside her.

“Come here for a second.”

Xue Fei blinked, confused, and walked over.

“So, the three hundred thousand I transferred to my brother-in-law yesterday-today he returned it with interest, plus the money for the gift you bought, and rounded it up to five hundred thousand.” Bei Jiajia lightly waved her phone. “I’m transferring you the money you spent. Check it.”

“Huh?” Xue Fei was instantly stunned.

He transferred five hundred thousand to Bei Jiajia?

After deducting the several tens of thousands for the ornament, Bei Jiajia’s brother-in-law had repaid her over a hundred thousand extra?

You could repay money like that?

“Alright, the money’s transferred to you.” Bei Jiajia quickly sent the money to Xue Fei. “He says it’s interest, but honestly, isn’t it just my brother-in-law spoiling me and finding excuses to give me spending money? Now do you understand why my brother-in-law borrowed money from me?”

Xue Fei stared blankly at the transfer he had just received on his phone, then looked up at the young man in the distance. He vaguely felt that perhaps he had misunderstood everything.

Could the things Bei Jiajia had said actually be true?

At the lunch table, Bei Jiajia held Bei Wei and showed off the potted plants she had carefully picked out.

“Sis, I’ll send these to Cuihu later this afternoon. These two are growing really well. They’ll definitely bring wealth and luck to the house.”

“They do look very nice.” Bei Wei leaned in for a closer look.

After chatting with Bei Wei for a while, Bei Jiajia suddenly thought of something and looked at Zhang Yang. “By the way, brother-in-law, what did you prepare as a housewarming gift for my sister?”

“The house was already bought by your brother-in-law. What more housewarming gift does she need?” Bei Wei lightly slapped Bei Jiajia’s hand.

“With brother-in-law’s style, there’s no way he prepared nothing, right?” Bei Jiajia said with a grin.

“Of course not.” Zhang Yang deliberately kept some suspense. “But I can’t exactly bring it out here. You’ll have to see it in person. If you’re free this afternoon, I’ll take you there.”

At the table, Xue Fei had been eating while constantly looking for an opportunity to join the conversation.

The moment he heard this, he immediately chimed in.

“Jiajia, how about we go take a look together this afternoon? I can drive you there.”

“Huh? You’re still planning to come along this afternoon?” Bei Jiajia’s absent-minded question unintentionally exposed her true thoughts.

Xue Fei’s face instantly turned red and pale by turns, and he stammered without knowing what to say.

Usually, he was a well-off second-generation rich kid who had never lacked confidence, but for some reason, in front of Bei Jiajia, he simply couldn’t act tough at all.

Zhang Yang had originally wanted to keep it a surprise, but Bei Jiajia kept pestering him with questions from the side.

“Forget it, I won’t hide it from you anymore. I got your sister a two-floor storefront. My idea is to open a bookstore café there, a place where people can read and drink coffee,” Zhang Yang explained briefly.

“Wow, that gift is amazing.” Bei Jiajia’s eyes were sparkling.

“Do you know that my dream has always been to open a bookstore café and live a peaceful life surrounded by books and coffee? But my dad thinks opening a place like that is just throwing money away. Only brother-in-law doesn’t care about money and would be willing to open a place like that for my sister.”

As she said this, Bei Jiajia couldn’t help hugging Bei Wei, her eyes filled with envy.

Bei Wei’s face also lit up with delight.

“Well? Do you like this arrangement? Or if you want to open some other kind of shop, I’ll support that too.” Zhang Yang smiled. “Just one requirement-you can’t work too hard.”

Bei Wei gave a soft affirmative hum, her joy written all over her face. Even with outsiders present, she couldn’t help leaning over and kissing Zhang Yang on the cheek.

At the nearby table, Xue Fei felt a burning jealousy at the sight, but didn’t dare look too much and quickly lowered his head.

If things were really as Bei Jiajia described, then this brother-in-law of hers truly was unbeatable. What girl could possibly resist being treated that well?

Naturally, lunch was extremely lavish.

But no one’s attention was really on the food.

After the meal, the group prepared to go see Bei Wei’s future bookstore café.

Outside Rongfu Banquet, just as Xue Fei was walking toward his BMW M2, he saw a black Cullinan slowly drive up, and Bei Jiajia’s sister opened the passenger door and got in.

“So it really is a Cullinan. And the BB version at that,” Xue Fei couldn’t help sighing as he stood beside his BMW.

This Cullinan was undeniably real.

Compared with that car, his BMW M2, which had always given him quite a bit of face, now looked like little more than a tractor.

Bei Jiajia looked at the Cullinan and clearly wanted to get in.

“Jiajia.” Xue Fei quickly came over with a flattering smile. “Ride in my car, okay?”

“Fine, I’ll give you some face.” Bei Jiajia glanced at him and walked toward the passenger seat.

Xue Fei immediately let out a long breath of relief.

At least he had managed to preserve the last bit of dignity.

A moment later, with the Cullinan in front and Xue Fei following behind in his BMW M2, the two cars headed together toward their destination.

In the afternoon sunlight, the two cars stopped downstairs at Prosperity Plaza.

“It’s that two-floor storefront over there, the one on the corner. The location is excellent.” Zhang Yang got out of the Cullinan, held Bei Wei’s hand, and pointed into the distance.

Bei Wei looked over.

The two-floor storefront with its full glass curtain walls-if it were turned into a bookstore café in the future, with a row of sofas along the floor-to-ceiling windows, just imagining reading by the window in the afternoon was beautiful enough.

Immediately, she let out a joyful cry and hugged Zhang Yang tightly.

“Husband, this place is absolutely wonderful.”

Behind them, Xue Fei and Bei Jiajia walked over and also looked at the storefront in front of them.

“With an area this large, the rent must be very expensive,” Xue Fei said awkwardly, just to have something to say.

The moment he said that, several gazes turned toward Zhang Yang.

“Rent?” Zhang Yang looked at the tens of thousands of square meters (~hundreds of thousands sq ft) of commercial space in front of him, then at the eighty-meter (~262 ft) tall office tower beside it. “Why would I pay rent for my own property?”

A moment later, Zhang Yang led Bei Wei and the others through the building, as if he were walking through his own back garden.

As they went, property staff who saw him kept stepping forward to greet him, one greeting after another.

“Brother-in-law!” Bei Jiajia’s voice shook with excitement as she rushed forward and clung to Zhang Yang’s arm without caring who saw. “This whole building is yours? And that huge commercial area next to it is yours too?”

“Hey, watch the image here. Don’t let your sister misunderstand,” Zhang Yang said with a laugh as he took Bei Wei’s hand and walked through his own property.

For the first time, he openly displayed his property and his strength.

The standard of a Grade A 5A office tower, the huge open lobby, the spotless floor-to-ceiling windows-everything in front of them was shaking their hearts.

Zhang Yang pushed open the property management office door, sat down unapologetically in the boss’s chair, then pulled Bei Wei to stand with him at the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out together toward the elevated highway in the distance and the faint outline of the Lujiazui trio farther away.

Standing atop his own property, a natural sense of confidence surged up within him.

Behind him, Xue Fei stood with his hands hanging at his sides, smiling stiffly the whole time. Looking up at the spirited and handsome profile in front of him, he felt completely stunned.

A property this large?

This had to be worth well over a billion, right?

Just lying there collecting rent from this place could bring in tens of millions a year as easily as playing around.

Not to mention him-even if his father were here, in front of this man, they would both be nothing of consequence.

“In the future, just peacefully run your shop in your boyfriend’s property and enjoy life to the fullest. Whether it makes money or not really doesn’t matter-I’ll take care of you,” Zhang Yang said with a smile as he looked at Bei Wei.

Bei Wei nodded, filled with nothing but emotion. She was completely immersed in an almost unimaginable sense of security.

“So your property is actually this huge. And you still came with me to play around opening that roast duck barbecue shop.”

“That’s a different matter.” Zhang Yang smiled, wrapped an arm around Bei Wei’s slim waist, and seeing the excited blush on her upturned face, couldn’t help kissing her.

Behind them, Bei Jiajia watched the scene with envy, then looked at Xue Fei nearby.

“Hey, Xue Fei, you should head back now.”

“Huh? Or… or I could wait and drive you home later,” Xue Fei asked timidly, his face flushed.

“No need. Can you stop clinging to me? I still have things to do with my brother-in-law and sister later,” Bei Jiajia said bluntly.

Even before this, she had never shown Xue Fei much warmth.

Now that she knew her brother-in-law owned such a property, she felt even more confident and became even more dismissive of Xue Fei.

Yet even so, Xue Fei only felt that it was completely natural.

“Alright. If you need anything, call me anytime.”

His expression changed repeatedly, but in the end he quietly left the office on his own.

“Sis, how do you feel right now?” After he left, Bei Jiajia came up even more openly and asked.

“I’m insanely jealous of you. Running a shop in brother-in-law’s property and living such a carefree life-this is basically a perfect life.”

“If you want to know what it feels like, just find someone like him yourself,” Bei Wei said without hesitation, tightly linking arms with Zhang Yang.

Bei Jiajia stuck out her tongue. She knew that her “cheap” sister was a little dissatisfied with how little distance she kept from Zhang Yang.

“Someone like brother-in-law… I probably won’t find anyone like that in this lifetime,” she muttered softly, then whispered another quiet “stingy.”

“What did you say?” Bei Wei asked as she stepped forward, her tone heavier though the smile on her face remained.

“Nothing, nothing.” Bei Jiajia hurriedly waved her hands.

After looking over the shop, the next step was naturally to start the project.

Since the store was never meant to make money, how it would be opened was entirely based on Bei Wei’s ideas, built exactly the way she imagined it.

As for compromises made purely for profitability, none of that existed here.

Coincidentally, there happened to be an interior design company upstairs in his own office building. Zhang Yang had no intention of hiding his identity and pretending to be an ordinary client, so he directly had Manager Zhou handle the initial contact.

Then he openly went to the interior design company as the owner of the office building.

That afternoon, inside the owner’s office of the interior design company.

The company’s boss brewed tea, searched for conversation topics, and spoke with obvious enthusiasm in every word, even bordering on flattery and ingratiation.

“Mr. Zhang, leave this matter to me. I’ll arrange for our company’s chief designer to handle it!”

He patted his chest confidently while making a phone call.

“What? You’re outside looking at houses? Come back immediately!”

“There’s no need to rush them back, right?” Zhang Yang said with a laugh. “This matter isn’t urgent.”

“How can that be? Your time is money. Wasting your time would be a crime,” the boss, Mr. Li, said repeatedly. “Please wait a moment. They’ll be here soon.”

That afternoon, the chief designer of the interior design company hurried back to the office and began discussing design plans with Bei Wei and the others.

Zhang Yang found it boring to stay around, so he simply left first.

His cashback event still had fifty million in remaining quota to collect, and he definitely needed to find a way to claim it.

Fifty million.

How indifferent to money would someone have to be to ignore fifty million?

At least with his current financial situation, he certainly couldn’t ignore it.

Sitting in the Cullinan downstairs, Zhang Yang also took the opportunity to repay the money he had borrowed from the girls earlier.

For smaller amounts of tens of thousands, he directly returned double.

Zhang Yang’s image as a wealthy man could not afford even the slightest damage.

For larger sums-like the 1.5 million Luo Xinyu had transferred to him without even blinking, which had brought him 150 million in cashback-when he repaid her now, he naturally had to be more generous.

With a few taps of his finger, Zhang Yang transferred two million back to Luo Xinyu.

As soon as the two million was transferred, Luo Xinyu responded quickly.

“What’s going on?”

“Repaying the money. I rounded it up a bit for you,” Zhang Yang replied casually.

Then a cross-ocean video call came through.

“Good man, were you testing me?” Luo Xinyu said softly, her eyes gentle and watery. “Do you even need to test me? If you called me, I could fly back this afternoon to see you.”

“It really wasn’t a test. I just needed it temporarily. You know me-I never treat people unfairly,” Zhang Yang said with a smile.

While they were talking, he noticed a message from Pei Xiaoru. He quickly told Luo Xinyu and ended the video call.

Pei Xiaoru’s message said that she had gotten the money from her parents.
