Chapter 109 Jinjiang Literature City First Release
The little kitten whose head was sticking out of Fourth Brother’s clothes unfortunately didn’t hear a certain dog’s cries for help.
He was taken into the car by Fourth Brother.
The air conditioning was on inside the car. On this cold winter night, the little kitten soon got too warm and climbed out from inside Fourth Brother’s clothes.
He sat in the passenger seat, worry written all over his cat face.
“Li Li, there’s some food up ahead.”
Bai Si was afraid he would be hungry, so he told him to get some food to fill his stomach.
The little foodie kitten shook his head, not in the mood to eat.
Seeing this, Bai Si changed tactics and said again, “If you don’t eat enough, you might not have the strength to save Xie Chen later.”
Bai Li: “…”
Bai Li froze.
Then he reached out his little paw and took all the food.
The food Bai Si prepared was all to the kitten’s liking.
Among those things was a box of goat milk.
Bai Li glanced at the goat milk and pushed it aside.
Bai Si caught sight of the goat milk and thought of the little brother’s milk drunkenness incident—a mystery yet to be solved for him.
“Li Li, next time let me study it.”
“Meow?”
Study what?
Bai Si glanced at his little brother out of the corner of his eye calmly: “Study why you get drunk on milk.”
Bai Li: “?”
Bai Li felt Fourth Brother’s research seemed a bit unnecessary.
Lots of people get drunk on alcohol, so why can’t cats get drunk on milk?
With Bai Si by his side, the little kitten’s low mood was somewhat comforted.
Because the locator kept moving, Bai Li’s car kept driving.
Driving from late at night until dawn.
Bai Si yawned, looked at the route, irritation shining in his eyes."If we weren't cats, that would be better."
Bai Li was so sleepy he was swaying, struggling to keep his eyes open, tilting his head: "Meow?"
If not a cat, then what?
"Be a bird," Bai Si said, "That way we can save on transportation costs when going out."
Flap your wings and save a fare.
Convenient and economical.
Bai Li didn’t want to be a bird; he still preferred being a cat.
"Meow."
Master likes cats.
Master told him that in Master’s eyes, his current look is the cutest and best-looking!
Bai Si looked at his adorable little brother with his filter fully on, thinking that no matter what his brother is, Master should like him.
For two whole days, Bai Si went from calm and collected to having murderous intent flashing in his eyes.
Damn it.
What’s going on with Xie Chen’s location? Why hasn’t it stopped moving yet?
The little kitten in the floral padded jacket pressed against the window, even more anxious.
"Meow!"
Passing by a remote area, Bai Li suddenly cried out.
Even if he didn’t, Bai Si would have stopped.
A few steps away, a big vehicle was parked there.
Inside the car, traces of Xie Chen’s scent remained.
Bai Si opened the car door, ready to pick up his brother, but the little brother had already rushed off.
"Meow-ow!"
Master.
The little kitten ran against the wind, pattering toward the abandoned car.
Bai Si wasn’t too anxious.
He checked the locator’s position; it wasn’t on the car.
Sure enough.
After the man and cat went over, they found Xie Chen wasn’t in the car.
Behind it, there were some fallen dog hairs.Bai Li froze.
“Fourth Brother.”
He tilted his head up, pointed at the dog hair, and in his meows, shock mixed with fear: “Did Gouzi get eaten by a shark?!”
If Gouzi was gone, then would his Master still be alive?
The little kitten sat down on his butt in fright, staring blankly at the dog hair.
Bai Si didn’t believe anything had happened to Xie Chen.
He carefully checked the car’s condition and found a lot of dust clumps on the front seat.
“It’s a demon.”
Bai Si pinched some dust and, the next second, disgustedly flicked it away.
“Demon ashes.”
He took out a tissue, wiped his hand, and told his little brother what he’d found.
These ashes were in clumps, indicating that whoever wiped out the demon was pretty ruthless.
“The demon’s dead?”
Bai Li didn’t quite catch on: “Then what about Master?”
Bai Si took one last look at the car and guessed, “Without the car, we should be able to find him soon.”
After all, two legs can’t compete with their four wheels.
Just as Bai Si suspected.
After the car was abandoned, Xie Chen’s location clearly slowed down.
Another half hour passed.
Huge snowflakes began falling, heavy and fast.
Bai Li, wearing his cotton jacket and with the heater on, didn’t feel cold at all.
But looking at the snowflakes and thinking of Master, he felt warm physically but cold inside.
After the snow covered the ground, Bai Li finally saw a familiar figure ahead.
“Meow!!!”
It was Master.
Bai Li’s meows broke into a hoarse shout; his paws slammed the car window, overwhelmed with excitement.
The car window muffled sound.
Xie Chen probably didn’t hear Bai Li’s voice, but his footsteps stopped.
The car door opened.
Bai Li rushed out of the car for the second time. Not far away, Xie Chen stood with his back to Bai Li. Amid the meowing behind him, the hostility in his eyes slowly faded.
By the time the snow-white little kitten jumped up and hugged his leg, Xie Chen had just fully returned to normal.
His expression was momentarily dazed.
“Master.”
Bai Li stretched out his little paws, gripping Xie Chen tightly to keep from falling.
He tilted his head and meowed as a reminder: “Hurry, hold me.”
If he didn’t hold him soon, he would fall!
The familiar meowing in his ears made Xie Chen bend down and, as usual, pick the kitten up into his arms.
Once held, the soft, chubby little body pressed against his chest, and Xie Chen suddenly felt like he was truly alive again.
He lowered his head and kissed the kitten’s head with his cold lips.
“Li Li.”
“Meow.”
I’m here.
Bai Li buried his head into Xie Chen’s neck and rubbed hard.
“Meow, meow-ao.”
Master, I missed you so much.
The little kitten, who had never been apart from Master for so long, clung like sticky rice cake, stuck to Master’s body, impossible to pull away.
Bai Si glanced at his little brother but didn’t stop him.
In these past few days, the little brother hadn’t eaten or slept well and had lost quite a bit of weight.
He felt sorry for him and naturally didn’t want to break their reunion.
“Let’s go.”
After watching them hug for a while, Bai Si spoke up: “It’s snowing heavily, let’s get inside the car.”
The little kitten was always afraid of the cold; both Xie Chen and Bai Si knew that well.
They didn’t linger and turned to get into the car.
Bai Li sat in Xie Chen’s arms and noticed a blind spot: “Master, where’s Gouzi?”
“He went back ahead,” Xie Chen answered, his eyes seemingly avoiding the kitten’s gaze.
Under the warm air from the heater, Xie Chen briefly recounted what had happened in the past few days.
“A group of people knocked me and Lang He unconscious. They didn’t know where they were taking us.”
“Not long ago, they suddenly disappeared. Lang He saw they were gone, so he said goodbye to me and said he was going home.”Xie Chen spoke as he took out a note, on which was written, in a scrawling script like a dog’s handwriting, the address of Gouzi’s mountain area.
Bai Si frowned.
“They didn’t suddenly disappear; they’re all dead. Didn’t you see who did it?”
“No.”
Xie Chen put away the note and said calmly, “Such brutal things just thinking about them is terrifying.”
He said “terrifying,” but there was not a hint of fear on his face.
Bai Si always felt something was off, but Bai Li did not.
He tenderly stretched out his little paw, touched Master’s handsome face, and comforted him: “Meow.”
Master is not afraid.
Xie Chen lowered his head and spoke to the little kitten: “I’m still a bit scared. Li Li, comfort me, okay?”
“Okay!”
The little kitten, worried for Master, used all his efforts to soothe the “afraid” Master.
He even offered his soft belly, taking Xie Chen’s hand and pressing it against his belly.
“Meow.”
You can touch as much as you want, very good to touch.
The little kitten enthusiastically recommended the cat-petting service to Master.
Xie Chen didn’t hold back either, rubbing the belly and then stroking the fur.
Inside the car, the atmosphere was warm and cozy, while outside, snowflakes fluttered down.
Because the journey there was really far, naturally the return trip couldn’t be a quick one either.
Most importantly, this place was remote.
The monsters living in this remote area had routes that no human could take.
The car ran out of gas and didn’t run long before it honorably stopped working.
Bai Si collapsed wearily in the driver’s seat: “There’s no choice, the snow is heavy, the road is bad, and we ran out of fuel.”
It was basically like the sky was about to destroy the cats.
The only thing to be thankful for was that they had plenty of food in the car.
Everyone knew Bai Si loved sleeping extremely much, not only loving sleep but being lazy to a level that infuriated the cats.
To reduce going out and stay cozy at home sleeping, Bai Si hoarded food so much it scared the cats.
His front seat and the trunk were all full of various foods.
There were self-heating rice and self-heating hotpots.
No worries about food or drink, now all they needed was to wait.Either wait for Daniel to come find them, or wait and see if any passing cars appear.
As for the phone...
It’s been several days with no power.
Bai Li’s phone does have solar charging, but with this damn snowy weather, where’s the sun?
Bai Li wasn’t worried at all—he had his Master, his Fourth Brother, and plenty of good food. Life was not stressful for him at all.
“Master.”
The well-fed little kitten looked at the thick snow on the ground, feeling a bit itchy inside.
“I want to go play for a while.”
It hadn’t snowed this thick on Monster Mountain before, and Bai Li really wanted to play in the snow.
“No.”
Xie Chen refused his request: “It’s cold in the snow, you’ll get frozen.”
The little kitten wasn’t a hardy, cold-resistant cat. Playing outside and getting sick would be totally not worth it.
Xie Chen wouldn’t let the kitten go play, but Bai Li couldn’t help looking at the snow.
Bai Si was asleep in the front seat, curled into a cat ball, snoring loudly.
Bai Li didn’t want to sleep; he just wanted to play in the snow.
“Meow.”
Master, I’m hungry.
The little kitten blinked, suddenly wanting to eat.
Xie Chen had no reason to refuse his reasonable request.
He opened the car door, preparing to get a box of self-heating rice from the back.
But just after getting out, before reaching the back seat, he saw the little kitten following closely and sneaking up.
“Li Li!”
Xie Chen immediately understood the kitten’s intention and blocked him: “Sit back down, no getting out.”
The little kitten, feeling a bit suffocated in the car, pretended not to hear Master’s voice and very disobediently tried to go play in the snow.
The snow was very deep.
Plop.
The tiny little kitten fell into the snow, the whole cat buried in it.
Xie Chen: “…”
The kitten buried in the snow: “…”
Meow!Where’s the cat?!
