Chapter 50 — First release on Jinjiang Literature City

Bai Liu noticed the wetness on the back of his hand. Looking down, he met his little brother’s teary eyes.

“Meow meow.”

The little kitten, afraid to struggle and scratch Sixth Brother, meowed with a whimper. His paws rested on Bai Liu’s hand, trying to keep Bai Liu from opposing Xie Chen.

Bai Liu frowned, clearly not expecting that his standoff with Xie Chen would make Lili cry.

Xie Chen looked at the tearful kitten and felt his heart tighten.

“Come in and talk.”

Since there were likely to be people outside in the public area, Xie Chen simply opened the door and let Bai Liu inside.

Lin Chao really didn’t want to go in. He stood at the door, awkwardly saying, “You two go talk. Xiao Liu, I’ll hang out outside. If you need me, just call me. My phone won’t be off.”

Xie Chen didn’t plan to let him in either.

The door closed, and the two of them and the kitten were once again tangled in the issue of who the little kitten belonged to.

“He’s crying.”

Xie Chen reached out patiently and said to Bai Liu, “Give him to me first.”

To be honest, Bai Liu didn’t want to hand him over. But he didn’t want to truly upset Lili either.

Time seemed to freeze.

After a few seconds, Bai Liu, filled with displeasure, handed the little kitten—still raising his paw to wipe his tears—to the man in front of him.

Xie Chen took the kitten and gently soothed him by stroking his head.

After being away for so long, Bai Liu was finally held again in Xie Chen’s arms.

He rubbed against Xie Chen’s chest, the tip of his nose catching the faint cold fragrance on Xie Chen’s body, and felt his heart instantly calm down.

Bai Liu only knew that Master needed him with him every day to sleep well.

But he didn’t realize that his dependence on Xie Chen was unknowingly deepening, like a slow addiction.

“Good boy.”

Xie Chen coaxed softly, “Want to eat something? There’s good food in the room.”

After being startled and then crying again, the little kitten had already digested all the food in his stomach.He nodded: “Meow.”

The food was taken from the yacht, but the drink was brought by Xie Chen from home.

In this safe and secure environment, Bai Li pawed at Xie Chen’s big hand and started telling him what he had just told Sixth Brother.

When the little kitten suddenly shot out, Xie Chen’s face showed no reaction, but the coldness in his eyes was barely concealed.

After Bai Li finished his meow complaints, he didn’t want Master to take revenge on the bad person.

To him, being thrown out once, and Sixth Brother throwing that person out once, was already even.

Now, the reason he told Master was simply because he was used to whispering everything that happened to Master, reporting it with meows.

After the report, Bai Li got a little sleepy.

He had wanted to sleep originally, but until now, he hadn’t closed his eyes.

Xie Chen’s big hand gently patted the kitten’s back, and soon the kitten was purring loudly as he slept.Bai Liu watched their interaction without saying much.

Xie Chen then placed the sleeping little kitten on the bed, turned around, and when he looked at Bai Liu again, all the good temper he had shown toward the kitten earlier had completely vanished.

“I will never give you Lili.”

Bai Liu got straight to the point, without any useless words: “Even if Lili clings to you more, I still won’t let you take care of him.”

Xie Chen’s deep eyes stared straight at Bai Liu.

“I understand your distrust of me.”

Xie Chen’s tone was habitually cold, but he didn’t try to excuse himself: “It was my negligence just now.”

He shouldn’t have left the little guy alone in the room.

And from Lili’s complaints, he clearly knew that if it weren’t for Bai Liu, Lili’s current situation would be unimaginable.

Xie Chen paused for a moment.

He had always been the most pragmatic businessman in the business world; when dealing with matters, he didn’t waste time on useless verbal battles like a naive boy.

If the talk couldn’t resolve things, he would choose other methods.

As for other methods, it all boiled down to letting Lili choose for himself.

Although they both knew Lili might end up crying anxiously again.

The kitten was still asleep. Just as Xie Chen hated others lingering on his territory, Bai Liu also hated staying too long in someone else’s room.

“I’ll go out for a while.”

Bai Liu said this and walked to the bed, looking at his sleeping little brother.

The snow-white little kitten curled up into a ball, sleeping peacefully and adorably.

Bai Liu reached out a finger, only to be grabbed instantly by the kitten.

“Meow meow.”

With eyes closed, the little kitten murmured drowsily, “Caught Sixth Brother.”Bai Liu’s heart stirred.

Caught Sixth Brother.

This was a game they used to play when they were on the mountain, with Bai Liu accompanying his little brother.

Old Fourth was very lazy; for a while, the whole cat got lazy because of Old Fourth.

Lili wasn’t used to him suddenly being lazy and thought he was sick.

To help him feel better, Lili tried all sorts of ways to get him moving.

The game of catching the cat was also something Lili insisted on playing. Within a set area, Lili would blindfold himself and try to catch him.

Bai Liu got up and left the room. Once outside, he realized Lin Chao hadn’t gone far.

Lin Chao smiled and greeted him as he came out: “Let’s hang out here today.”

Bai Liu gave a short “Hmm.”

Lin Chao patted his shoulder and led him downstairs.

Bai Liu wasn’t very interested in this kind of occasion, but since his little brother was sleeping, he couldn’t let him wake up again.

Lin Chao noticed his bad mood and tactfully didn’t mention the kitten, instead changing the subject to get Bai Liu to talk more.

Bai Liu leaned on the sofa, holding the red wine Lin Chao handed him, barely drinking, just swirling it around.

“Oh, right.”

He seemed to remember something and casually said to Lin Chao, “I’ve done some new research, and the report just came out.”Bai Liu roughly explained the research to Lin Chao.

After finishing, Lin Chao suddenly stood up.

He sat still without moving: “No need.”

“Eh? Why? Didn’t you want to take the cat away?”

“I do want to,” Bai Liu said softly.

He wanted to take his little brother away, but he didn’t want to force him at such a time.

There were many other ways to turn his brother’s mind. He didn’t have to use the toughest method...

In the room.

After watching for a while, Xie Chen went to take a shower. Then, dressed in pajamas, he sat beside Bai Li working on a laptop.

There was a small problem at the company.

Their project data had been leaked, and a small trouble was coming.

Xie Chen pressed the sun key, annoyed not by the trouble itself, but because he hated that someone had done such a thing under his watch.

He guessed he had been busy for over an hour.

After handling most of the other business, Xie Chen finally closed the laptop.

That curly-haired youth probably wouldn’t come to disturb anymore.

After putting away the laptop, Xie Chen lay down on the bed and scooped the curled-up little kitten into his arms.

The little kitten hummed twice, too sleepy, humming again as it fell back asleep.

Night deepened.

Bai Liu, who had only taken a few sips of red wine, never expected he would get tipsy.

He shook off Lin Chao, dizzy and unsteady, wanting to go outside for some fresh air.

The wind outside was very cool.The cool wind blew past, but the curly-haired youth was gone from the ground, leaving only a gray-and-white cat.

The gray-and-white cat staggered a few steps, then was picked up by someone.

“I seem to have a connection with cats today.”

The man with wine-red long hair picked up another cat, smiled, and directly took the cat back to the room.

The next day.

Around six o’clock, Bai Li stretched his paws and body, waking up from his dream.

“Meow?”

After a bout of hysteria, Bai Li sat up on the bed. He was small, so even sitting up, he was still held gently in Xie Chen’s arms.

Early in the morning.

Xie Chen’s sleeping face was still perfect without flaw—his high nose bridge, thin and well-shaped lips, looking like they were made for kissing.

Bai Li stretched out his paws and touched the master’s face.

After that, he shook his head and, unusually, didn’t cuddle with his master but jumped off the bed, meowing loudly.

“Six Ge!”

He was looking for Six Ge whom he just found!

“Li Li, why are you waking up so early?”

Xie Chen, who was already awake, saw the little kitten jump off the bed and stopped pretending to sleep.

He sat up, his pajamas slightly open, messy hair falling on his temples. His cold eyes reflected the little kitten’s chubby figure.

Seeing Xie Chen awake too, Bai Li quickly widened his eyes and meowed at him.

“Six Ge is gone.”

He had seen Six Ge before sleeping, but after waking up, he was gone.

Xie Chen threw back the quilt and got out of bed.

“Don’t worry.”

While looking for his clothes, he said to the little kitten, “He’ll come.”

That curly-haired youth was clearly much more difficult to deal with than Tan Yi.

Bai Li waited anxiously for Six Ge. After eating, when Xie Chen finished packing and was about to get off the yacht, Six Ge really did come over!

“Meow!”

Bai Li waved his paws, his beautiful amber eyes sparkling, sitting in Xie Chen’s arms, waiting for Six Ge to approach.
