Chapter 106: "Let’s go, I’ll take you home first."

With the polar bear’s help, Lin Qianyu could still carry a block back in her arms.

Carefully supporting it from below, the edges being scraped off didn’t matter as long as the snow block stayed mostly intact.

The guests had gone out together to look for food. In front of Feng Jingye’s tent, a fire was piled up with a roasted fish, its color golden brown.

When the polar bear appeared, Feng Jingye immediately stood up.

The polar bear squinted its eyes and stopped. As it raised its head, the rope looped around its head slipped off. Its expression didn’t change as it opened its mouth and bit the rope, silently confronting Feng Jingye.

Lin Qianyu wiped her goggles with gloves covered in snow, wiping repeatedly, but there was always a layer of haze on them, making it hard to see clearly.

Noticing the polar bear had stopped moving, she turned her head and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Wooh...” The polar bear bit the rope and lowered its head to bite the walrus, then followed along.

After cleaning the goggles, she noticed a person sitting not far away.

Feng Jingye flipped the roasted fish. “You’re back.”

“Aw!” The polar bear raised its head, rubbed against her wrist, and the rope caught in its mouth tightened as it moved, pulling the sled behind it.

“Just leave it here,” Lin Qianyu said, pointing to an empty spot. “I’ll handle the rest.”

After a night, the foundation of the ice shelter was already solid, and the loose snow on top didn’t need clearing; they could just keep piling up.

Lin Qianyu placed the snow block she was carrying onto the pile.

Turning back, she saw the polar bear carefully put down the walrus from its mouth, then loosened the rope, lifted its paw out, shook its fur, lowered its body, and stared intently toward Feng Jingye.

“Roar—!” With a roar, the polar bear charged straight at Feng Jingye.

“Aw aw aw! Fight! Fight!”

The bear couldn’t open its mouth wide, so the ‘awoo’ sound came out softly and childlike from the corner of its mouth where it held the stick.

It didn’t eat its prize but nudged it toward Lin Qianyu’s hand.

Not far away, Feng Jingye’s goggles were crooked, and his hat was nowhere to be seen, but luckily his clothes were still intact.

Looking at the empty fire pit, he looked up and met Lin Qianyu’s eyes.

Lin Qianyu still held the roasted fish the polar bear had just given her.

Lin Qianyu waved the roasted fish in front of the polar bear and then turned to ask, “Caught a cold?”

Hang Sisi, who had caught a cold from the cold right after arriving, looked much better in spirit now that filming had officially started. She wrapped the roasted fish in leaves first and buried it in the snow, waiting for the polar bear to come back to eat.

Luckily, the snow bricks brought back today weren’t all used yet. With such a big chunk, cutting it into pieces could build a medium-sized ice fridge.

Considering that if the fridge was too deep, reaching in to grab things would be troublesome.

So she made the height just above the knees, lengthwise longer, keeping the same capacity but making it easier to access.

No hesitation, she got to work.

Making a fridge was much simpler than making an ice house. After finishing, Lin Qianyu put all the leftover food from home inside, covering the top with a wooden board.

Using snow bricks to seal the top risked freezing things solid, so the wood board was perfect.

“I’ll press something on top when I sleep tonight,” Lin Qianyu thought, looking around for anything usable but finding nothing. Since the wind and snow weren’t heavy, she didn’t hurry to find anything.

The polar bear still hadn’t returned. Lin Qianyu glanced at the little spotted seal below, looking eager, and said, “Let’s go, I’ll take you home first.”

Little spotted seal: “Ah-woah!”
