He ran to several markets, and finally, a man wearing a suit and slicked-back hair called out to him.
“Can you deliver goods?”
Bai Li stopped walking, looked up at the man, and used his cat hypnosis: “Yes, yes, do you have something to deliver?”
“Yes.”
The man looked to be in his forties, seemed familiar, and squatted down proactively while talking to him.
“I have a lot of goods here, a large amount to deliver every day.”

“Yes!”
Bai Li puffed up his little round face and said seriously, “I used to pull carts, very heavy carts.”

He smiled and said, “Come with me, let’s talk in detail about your job and salary.”

“During probation, one hundred per day. After half a month of probation, when you become a full employee, two hundred per day and possibly raises later. Also, any tips you get while delivering go entirely to you—I don’t take any.”

He was going to be a rich cat!
The man didn’t just say nice things—he crouched down and patted Bai Li’s head: “I’ll write you a contract with legal effect. See if you know any humans who can look it over for you.”
“I’ve been in business a long time and always value honesty.”
Bai Li nodded and thought it over in his mind, finally deciding on Xie Chen.
“I’ll have Xie Chen look at it for me.”
“Alright.”
The man was efficient. After agreeing, he took him to draft the contract.
“Tomorrow at 10 AM, I’ll wait for you at the shop. If you want this job, we’ll sign the contract.”
“If you really don’t trust me, you can bring someone with you.”
Honestly, this man was pretty straightforward. After leaving the shop, he even planned to personally take Bai Li back, but Bai Li refused.

But outside were legs of people coming and going. Bai Li didn’t dare to go out now—if someone who disliked cats saw him, they might hit him.
Trapped and hesitant, Bai Li finally saw some cardboard boxes piled in the warehouse and decided to crawl directly into one.
Cats liked cardboard boxes, liked yarn balls, liked scratching posts.
Now, down in the foothills, there was nothing else to satisfy him—only cardboard boxes were easy to find.
He picked a box neither too big nor too small and crawled fully inside. After getting in, he pulled the box closed so from a distance, no one could tell a cat was inside.
The inside of the box was dark. Bai Li wanted to sleep, and after waking up when everyone finished work, he could wait for Master.
Kittens slept frequently. An ordinary idle little kitten spent most of the day sleeping.
In his sweet sleep, Bai Li dreamed of scenes on Monster Mountain.
In the dream, there seemed to be a little boy, who was sick and close to dying.
He was held by that little boy and didn’t want to let go no matter what.
Bai Li couldn’t see the boy’s face clearly but remembered the boy’s voice was very pleasant, could sing, and even made a cat song for him.
“Meow.”
Listening to the cat song in his dream, Bai Li closed his eyes and unconsciously meowed.
Time passed little by little. Perhaps because the time with the little boy in the dream was so cherished, Bai Li slept for a very long time.

It was definitely dark outside.

“Meow!”

There was a cat inside the box.
