Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Bai Li led several pet cats back temporarily under the overpass, where there were piles of cardboard boxes and sheets—all things Bai Li had collected.
Dian Dian and Da Hui were British Shorthair cats, twin brothers, and still young. These two were the ones who got sick.
Bai Li gave the two most comfortable boxes to them to sleep in.
“I’ll go find you some food. You two rest.”
Bai Li stretched out his paw and patted their heads. “Tomorrow I’ll go work. When I earn money, I’ll take you to see the doctor.”
When Dian Dian and Da Hui heard this, their eyes got wet, and softly meowed at Bai Li, “Thank you, Big Brother.”
Big Brother meowed back, both worried and strong, “No need to thank me.”
The other two healthy British Shorthairs and an orange tabby volunteered to accompany Bai Li to look for food.
Bai Li pulled out two plastic bags and put them around their necks. His small round face looked serious: “Meow-ow!”
Let’s go!
After living alone for more than a month since coming down the mountain, Bai Li was quite skilled at finding food.
He took two little brothers and prepared to rummage through garbage bins.
But before they finished, the orange tabby’s plastic bag was unexpectedly filled with canned food by someone.
“Hahaha, you guys are too cute.”
A beautiful young woman in a red long dress held up her phone to take photos of them, “It’s my first time seeing little kittens come out to pick through garbage.”
Especially with plastic bags tied around their necks, unable to reach the trash bins, these little kittens even stacked on top of each other!
At the bottom was a British Shorthair, on its head stood the orange tabby, and on top of the tabby was an adorable white kitten.
The little kitten stood on its companions’ heads, paws clawing at the garbage bin, stretching its neck to reach.
The young woman clicked many photos. As a reward, she gave each little cat a box of canned food.
When she gave the food to Bai Li, their eyes met—his wet, slightly bewildered gaze struck her heart hard.
Too damn cute—it’s against the rules!
Bai Li looked at the canned food in the plastic bag and then at the young woman’s phone, smartly understanding.
They earned canned food by showing off their cute faces!
“Meow-ow.”Bai Li jumped down from the orange tabby’s head, then turned around and commanded, “Meow, meow meow.”
“Hurry up, line up, stand properly, let the young lady pet us.”
The cats in the cat café would let customers pet them like this in exchange for wages.
Although they were not in a cat café, after receiving canned food, they still had to provide petting services.
The young lady taking photos was an internet celebrity with a big following, currently posting photos on her million-follower Weibo account.
As soon as she posted, her skirt was tugged down by a small paw.
She saw the prettiest little kitten tilt its head and rub against her: “Meow?”
“Wanna pet me?”
The young lady said, “Damn, even stray kittens nowadays are this well-behaved?!”
She crouched down and tentatively petted Bai Li’s head.
Bai Li’s fur was very soft; although not very clean, he was born handsome. Petting such a gentle little kitten felt incredibly pleasant.
Besides Bai Li, the other two little cats also voluntarily offered their heads one by one.
After all three cats had “sold themselves,” Bai Li finally felt satisfied and safe to bring the canned food back.
“Meow-ow.”
Bai Li politely said goodbye to the young lady and led the British Shorthair and the orange tabby, pattering back under the overpass.
But halfway there, the young lady caught up and asked if they were willing to be adopted.
The little orange tabby looked at the beautiful young lady, then at Big Brother, and finally chose to be taken away by the young lady.
Big Brother had too many cats to care for; he couldn’t be a burden anymore.
Night fell.
The remaining cats gathered together to eat the canned food. Meanwhile, in a certain private hospital, a patient who had been brought in slowly opened his eyes.
The patient was extremely handsome, with sharp brows, cold eyes, and thin lips.
When he opened his eyes, his gaze was still dazed, but a faint murmur slipped out between his lips.
“Li Li.”
“Sir, sir! You’re awake!” The butler who had been guarding him saw Xie Chen wake up and happily pressed the bedside bell to call the doctor.
Noticing that Xie Chen was calling out something, the butler leaned closer to listen but couldn’t clearly hear what he was saying.
“Sir, what are you saying?”
The daze in Xie Chen’s eyes slowly faded. He furrowed his brows slightly and looked at the butler: “Did I just speak?”
The butler was stunned.Alright, their master is having his old problem again.
The master’s health isn’t just a normal sickness after which people feel bad; it’s a very strange illness.
He often suddenly falls into unconsciousness, and during these episodes, he always calls out something.
Not only that, his temperament has become more and more violent and uncontrollable because of this illness.
Of course, very few people know about this violent side of him.
To outsiders, he is a singing king who was hailed as a god from debut, and also a young man who took control of an old established family.
Everyone only sees his good looks but doesn’t know that beneath that appearance lies an increasingly sick soul.
The butler shook his head, no longer dwelling on what the master called out. He reminded, “Master, Dr. Wen said just now that this time you took too much medicine—”
At these words, the butler felt heavy inside and advised, “Master, if you can’t sleep next time, I can keep you company and talk with you. Please don’t take so much medicine.”
Xie Chen replied with a careless “Hmm,” his attitude very perfunctory.
He sat up and looked around as if searching for something.
This time, when he was unconscious...
Somehow, in the end, he wasn’t unconscious but was deeply asleep, a long-lost sleep.
It was like being surrounded by a familiar scent, a scent that made his whole body feel extremely comfortable.
“Xie Bo, is this treatment the same as before?”
“Yes, master, why do you ask?”
“Nothing, just feels like this time the effect is good,” Xie Chen said softly.
The butler’s old face lit up with a big smile hearing that there was an effect.
“Master.”
Seeing that his mood seemed good, the butler took the opportunity to say, “I found a little kitten on the road, very beautiful. How about we keep it at home?”
When Xie Chen heard the words “little kitten,” it seemed he really heard some meowing in his ear.
He lifted his eyelids slightly: “Okay, keep it.”
The butler nodded happily, preparing to buy a luxury cat bed, cat food, and treats later.
After all, their master had more money than he could spend, and there wasn’t much to spend on at home, so this time they could finally buy to their heart’s content!
While he was excitedly preparing the luxury cat bed for Bai Li,
at the other side, Bai Li, who for now could only sleep on a cardboard box, was lying beside it, still talking to his little brothers about tomorrow’s plan.
“Orange.”Bai Li called to the little orange cat, “You stay here tomorrow, watch over Diandian and Da Hui. Mei Mei and I will go work.”
“Okay!” The little orange cat nodded seriously, accepting big brother’s orders.
The small kittens clustered together, and under Bai Li’s urging, all obediently closed their eyes and went to sleep.
Cats are actually quite energetic at night.
But as a working cat, Bai Li clenched his little paws, covered himself with torn newspaper, and firmly closed his eyes, forcing himself to fall asleep quickly.
Life is not easy, cats have to work hard!
