Chapter 4

The next day.

The morning light shone under the overpass. Bai Li stretched his round little body inside the cardboard box, and after a few drowsy seconds, he climbed out.

“Mei Mei.”

Bai Li meowed, “Are you awake?”

Mei Mei’s throat emitted a soft purring sound. After a while, the purring stopped, and she poked her head out of the box.

“Meow~”

I’m awake.

Cats love to sleep, especially little kittens like Bai Li, who actually need the most sleep. But for survival, he couldn’t afford to sleep too much anymore.

At Bai Li’s urging, Mei Mei quietly followed him out from under the overpass.

They had saved some canned food from yesterday, with two and a half cans left uneaten.

Bai Li placed the cans in front of Diandian’s box so they could eat when they woke up.

“Big brother, I’m a little hungry.”

Mei Mei followed behind Bai Li, speaking softly.

Bai Li thought for a moment: “Let’s go drink water. After drinking, you won’t feel hungry.”

“Okay!”

Near the vegetable market were a few public water taps. Bai Li led Mei Mei there, walking with familiarity.

It was still early, and few people were at the taps.

Bai Li used his paw to turn on the tap. When water came out, he quickly let Mei Mei drink underneath.

The two little cats drank their fill, then jumped down and began to work.

“Wait for me.”

Bai Li actually had a special ability called cat hypnosis. The hypnosis only lasted a few minutes, but during that time, humans in front of him could understand his meows.

Using this ability, Bai Li began visiting shop owners one by one, trying to find work.

“You’re too small; you can’t pull this little cart,” the grocery store owner squatted in front of Bai Li, talking to him. “A pretty little kitten like you should just find a master on the street to take care of you.”

“If you have a master, you won’t have to work so hard.”Bai Li shook his head: “Meow meow.”

I don’t want to be taken care of; I want to take care of myself.

The grocery store owner smiled: “But you can’t pull this little cart.”

Bai Li looked at the cart seriously and said, “I can pull it.”

He had a demon pill inside him. Although it was small, it gave him strength!

He could pull this little cart!

At Bai Li’s meow request, the owner decided to let him try.

The owner’s grocery store had everything. When Bai Li pulled the cart, the owner specially put a vest on him and tied the rope to the vest.

That way, the rope wouldn’t rub against his skin.

Bai Li gratefully bowed to the owner, pulled the small cart full of goods, and began delivering.

The delivery distance wasn’t far, but there were many items, so the owner hired casual workers.

For a cartload of goods, others would get paid three yuan per trip. But the owner quietly gave Bai Li two extra yuan, meaning he earned five yuan per trip.

“Hehe, it’s not easy for little monsters to make a living nowadays.”

The owner, wearing a torn vest, sat cheerfully on a chair by the door, watching the little kitten run off pulling the cart.

His expression was clear-headed; there was no sign he was bewitched by the cat hypnosis.

The little monster’s hypnosis doesn’t work on big monsters.

Today was Monday.

The crowd of commuters thickened; pedestrians and vehicles flooded the street corners.

It was a time when most people were unwilling to go to work, but…

On the roadside path, a white little kitten wearing a vest, like pulling a sled, was panting hard while pulling a cart full of goods.

“Damn.”

“Am I seeing things?”

“What the heck is that kitten doing?!”

“Take a picture, take a picture! Damn, in all my life, it’s the first time I’ve seen a kitten pulling stuff.”

The originally lethargic office workers were all shaken by this scene.

Even cats are working so hard; how can they keep being lazy?!

A surfing internet addict quickly recorded a short video and casually posted it online.

After posting, he put away his phone and went to work, never expecting that his casual video would suddenly go viral.Xie family.

The old butler, watching the master leave, still felt heavy-hearted.

The little kitten he was raising was gone!

The luxury cat bed had been bought, but the cat was gone. The old butler felt heartbroken.

While feeling heartbroken, the old butler lay down in the rattan chair and casually opened his phone.

Coincidentally, someone had just shared a video in a group.

“Haha, come watch, this cat is so funny.”

“Hahahahaha, after watching, this really is a small body with great strength.”

The old butler casually clicked it open, and his eyes immediately widened.

He decisively saved the video and forwarded it to the master.

“Master!!!”

“The cat has been found!”

“I checked where the cat appeared; it seems to be on your regular work route. Master, if you see him, can you bring him back?”

The master didn’t reply, whether or not he was looking at his phone; at this moment, there was no response.

On the main road.

This was Bai Li’s fourth trip pulling the cart. Meimei wasn’t as strong as him but also wore a vest and had a small cart to share the load with Bai Li.

The two cats ran one after another. Suddenly, Bai Li’s eyes sharpened.

Ah!

He saw the handsome master.

Because he stared a few seconds longer, Bai Li didn’t watch the road in front of him.

“Bang—”

Just those few distracted seconds, someone suddenly bumped into his cart. Bai Li, wearing his vest, was thrown off on the spot.

“Thunk.”

Bai Li lay on his back with all four paws up, flattened like a little white pancake.

Meimei rushed over, alarmed, and anxiously cried out: “Meow!!!”Big brother!

Bai Li used his demon pill to forcibly boost his strength. After being thrown and losing his breath, his strength drained, and the little white pancake couldn’t gather himself for a long time.

The person who knocked Bai Li flying was a commuter riding an electric bike. Having just partied all night over the weekend, he was still groggy early in the morning going to work.

He really didn’t notice the little kitten pulling the cart.

Seeing the little kitten thrown out, the man steadied his electric bike and tried to escape without a second thought.

He knew the market well—cats are precious now. Just filming casually could be worth hundreds, and if something happened, the medical bills would pour out.

Just as the man on the electric bike was about to leave, a car blocked his way.

The car was all black, sleek lines, and its emblem dazzled the man.

He gripped the brake tightly, not daring to confront the blocking car.

For good reason.

He’d seen this car on the official website—it was a limited edition, worth at least tens of millions.

If he scratched or bumped this car, he couldn’t even pay off the debt if he sold himself.

“Hey, why are you blocking me?!”

The man raised his voice, yelling at the car: “I’m in a hurry to get to work, move!”

The car didn’t dodge or yield at all.

Behind the man, Bai Li, flattened like a little white pancake, sniffled and got up from the ground.

He patted the dust off his vest with his paws, feeling a bit wronged.

He’d just been hit yesterday and lost his enamel bowl for drinking water.

Today, he got hit again, and the things on his cart had all fallen off!

There’d be compensation to pay.

Bai Li held back his grievances, put on a fierce little face, and went off to find someone to compensate him.

At the same time, the cold-faced man in the black car just opened the door and got out.

“Meow-ow, ow!”
